Fantastic! I love fishing - Eating - and want to learn how to scuba dive. You can tell this person has actually been there and give you some pretty great advice and contacts. It was nice to take the guess work out of where and what I will be doing. Thanks for a great reference to Aruba! Pretty jacked about the fishing opportunities. And I am sure the kids will love the beaches you suggested.

I'm not convinced there's anything in this book that can't be found elsewhere. You do get the feeling the author spent quite a number of years on the island, however this is a positive and negative.. for instance, there are some wonderful stories from the author's past involving boating from Aruba to nearby deserted islands but no indications of what islands or how to find them. This was mentioned not once, but twice - made me feel a bit like the author was teasing the reader, like "I know a secret you'll never know".

I have been to Aruba and this little paradise is absolutely amazing! This guide will help you understand what Aruba is all about. Great read!

No mention of Aruba Hilton, still lists the Radisson from a few years ago. Wish I knew it was outdated when I bought it.

I've been looking at honeymoon options, and this book may have convinced us to try Aruba! It's very thorough, it contains some beautiful photographs, and best of all, it's loaded with contact information for many, many places and services you'll need. This Aruba travel guide is well worth the price just for that collection.

The book was very helpful. I especially liked knowing it was flag day when I went. I was able to see the parade with wonderful costumes.

I bought this for my mom when her dog Mitsy died. I am sorry it took so long to review it. More books like this should be written that bring true comfort to those who have lost family members in the way of pets. They bring us so much comfort and its rare to get what we need when that happens because to many they are just 'animals' but for those of us who loved them, they were a part of us.

I have been waiting for Betty Carmack's book all of my life. My feelings have never before been so validated. Throughout childhood, I have had numerous little creatures: hamsters, birds, dogs, turtles, and mice. Now after 45 years, I can finally grieve the loss of those precious creatures without anyone calling me foolish or overly sentimental. No one will ever again tell me that "little boy's don't cry." I lost my 17 year old siamese cat and can't even describe the absolute devistation and loss I feel. The evening this book came was yet another night I opened my door and my Samantha was not there to greet me. I sat down with this book that was suggested to me by by a pastor and read it from cover to cover and it helped to validate every feelng I am having. Some people understand pet loss, others don't. It helped me tremendously and I would recommend this book to anyone that has lost their dear pet friend.

We had to put one of our cats down who had cancer of the kidneys. It was the hardest thing to go through after having to watch my father pass away. Pets do become a part of the family and this book helped to validate alot of the feelings I was having.

I have read "Grieving the Death of a Pet" every time I've lost a beloved animal companion. I have found it to be an insightful and easy to read book which has helped me better understand and mourn the loss of a beloved cat or dog.Betty brings a high level of expertise to bear on her writings. She has worked extensively with people who are in grief, and she uses these stories to illustrate the different components of grief and love. Her examples shed light on the deep love animal lovers feel for their animal companions and help explain why animal lovers grieve so deeply.After reading this book, I also found my appreciation of my living animals increased as I became more conscious of what they brought to my life.I highly recommend this book to anyone who whats to increase their understanding of their bond with their animals and release their grief when one dies.

This was one of my son's all-time favorite books when he was a toddler. He took it out of the library as often as possible for well over a year. We still use the phrase "everyone loves Little Gorilla" as part of our "family language". Now that he is a new father, I was thrilled to see that the book was not only still in print but also available as a board book. When I gave the book to him, even though it has been over 30 years, he still remembered it! So now, he can read it to his daughter. A beautiful book with a wonderful message charmingly illustrated.

Our attending pediatrician recommended this when my wife gave birth to our second child. He said it helps the older child cope with change and lets them know they’re still loved. Anyways I’m not sure if that’s what it did to my 2 year old daughter but she’s absolutely obsessed with this book!

This is about a 'Little Gorilla' growing up and having his 1st Birthday. As a board book, what could be better for a 1st Birthday? We opt to buy books instead of birthday cards. We always write a message on the inside cover...but this one didn't really have a place to write a message on the inside cover, so we wrote it on the cover. lol He will always know this book is from his Grandparents and that we will always love him....no matter how big he gets.

This children's classic is packaged in a good size for little hands. One of my all time favorite picture books with a reassuring theme for little ones.

Great read aloud for the very youngest. This will become a favorite of small ones because they are that little gorilla who is carried everywhere.Have a banana handy to share while reading this book.

The authors replicate their helpful framework, originally introduced in their work The Heart Has Its Reasons (2006), which separates queer literature as a whole into three phases: "homosexual visibility," "gay assimilation," and "queer consciousness/community." Though there are some revisions, about a third of the content is pulled directly from the duo's previous work. The rest expands into the contemporary LGBTQ+ publishing landscape. Notably, new content includes additional chapters about comics and graphic novels (and, briefly, manga), nonfiction, and literature with bisexual, transgender, and intersex characters. Great artwork from the man who painted your favorite monsters!! Mr. Gogos passed last September and I was able to speak to him the prior April at an appearance. I grew up reading Famous Monsters magazine and loved his work. This book, though not super detailed in his life, is very much a treasure to my past and what I will enjoy for years to come.

Can you imagine having the brains and brushstrokes to produce not only recreations of your favorite movie monsters, but to instill in them a personality unique to the artist. Look long enough and you think they are looking right back at you. They are a horror in themselves. He gives them life. And think that anytime a new horror feature or sci fi movie hits the screens you could just do as he does and pick up the brush and translate the propagandist to canvas. Can you imagine being able to do such work with scenes from your favorite films or books.I agree this should have been more Encyclopedic. I would be glad to spend 3 times the cost for a complete volume set. If I could steal one thing in this world, it would be Basil Gogos talent.

Like many who have reviewed this book, I grew up with Famous Monsters of Filmland, and was really looking forward to getting this book because of the fabulous artwork of Basil Gogos that I remember so well. Unfortunately, I was a little disappointed - with a title like "Famous Monster Movie Art of Basil Gogos", one would expect (at least I did) that it would concentrate on his well-known covers of monster and horror magazines, specifically Famous Monsters of Filmland, for which he is best known by many. Instead, a good portion of the book is devoted to his wildlife, western, military, adventure, and whatnot work. It would have been more accurate to call it "The Art of Basil Gogos", not the "Famous Monster Movie Art of Basil Gogos". Also, many of his Famous Monsters of Filmland cover art paintings are cropped - not a whole lot usually, but when compared with the actual magazine covers it's obvious (again, to me at least) that they have been cropped, and I just cannot understand why they would do this. And lastly, a good number of the covers are small, some very small, and are reproductions of the actual FMOF covers, not his actual paintings used to create those covers. Don't get me wrong, I'm still glad I got the book, the quality of the reproductions are great, and it's better than not having a book of his art. But they could have, and should have, done a much better job.

Basil is the anchor of my childhood horror memories. The Covers of Famous Monsters were his soapbox and he was heard around the world. Basil has a way of using colors to give black and while celluloid a voice. I went to Indianapolis to the relaunch of Famous Monsters and got to meet Basil. He was a wonderful man who was more than happy and enthusiastic to whittle away the time talking to a monster kid like me. Basil took the time to look at my art portfolio as I explained how I learned to paint my aurorakits to look like his artwork. Basil has hit the circuit of monster conventions. If you get the chance go meet him and thank him for your childhood of fear!!

Within this book are large, crystal-clear repros of his most famous monster cover paintings, as well as samples of his illustration work.The only setback for this book is its lack of depth in the text. It seems that whoever was sent to interview Basil didn't ask too many questions, didn't want to really know too much about him except for his general acheivements, and didn't ask him for a demonstration of how he works. Among all of the great pics, some candid ones of the artist would've been nice, most notably a pic of his studio.Still, the images are so rich in color and character. Worth it!
